Security that does what you expect.
Does the app work well on my phone? Do I receive useful alerts without being constantly interrupted? Does the device do what I expect it to? And can I use it day to day without being required to pay extra each month?
These are the questions we start with at Blue Flamingo. They shape how we think about devices, software and the experience that connects them.
Four expectations guide our approach.

It works when I need it
You receive an alert, open the app and want to see what is happening. If the video takes a long time to load, the moment when you could have acted may already have passed.
Afterwards, you also want to be able to rely on your security. You need to be able to find an event again, with enough footage and context to understand what happened. Missing the start of an event, unclear footage or endless searching can undermine that value.
That is why speed, connectivity and storage belong in the same design decision. This includes what happens when something goes wrong: if a camera goes offline, you want to know what that means, which functions still work and how to proceed.
I understand it
The app should feel easy to use on the phone you use every day. You want to find information easily and carry out actions without having to keep searching.
That starts with choosing and installing a product. Does the device suit the place and purpose you are buying it for? What connection and power supply does it need? What maintenance is involved, and will you need to recharge it, for example?
Once in use, the parts need to work together. Repeating the same settings and actions across different apps makes security unnecessarily complicated.
Alerts deserve particular attention. If you are constantly interrupted by events that mean little to you, you will naturally start ignoring them. We therefore look at their relevance: does an alert help you understand something and decide what needs attention?
I stay in control
Giving a partner, family member or colleague access should be easy to understand, without sharing your own password. You want to know who can view what and be able to change or withdraw access.
That control also applies to data. What information is needed? Where is it processed and stored? Who can access it, and what may it be used for?
The surroundings matter too. A camera on a busy street or at a shared entrance also affects other people. That is why we consider European circumstances, privacy expectations and applicable local rules from the beginning.
The solution itself needs protecting too. How a device is recognised, who gets access, how connections are secured and how software is maintained are fundamental parts of the design.
When AI helps describe events or organise information, an interpretation must remain recognisable as such. The original information, uncertainty and appropriate human control remain important.
Control also extends to costs. Our principle is useful everyday security without a required subscription. Optional paid services must offer recognisable extra value. Before buying, you should be able to understand which functions come with the product and which may involve additional costs.
I get help
When something does not work, you want to know where to turn and what the next step is. You want help moving forward, even when the cause is not immediately clear.
We want to offer support that helps you understand the problem and find an appropriate solution. Good instructions, useful error messages and knowing when personal help is needed are all part of that.
That is why we consider questions about installation, use and maintenance during development. Support is part of the experience with the product.
That experience continues after purchase. Phones change and software receives updates. You should be able to understand what support to expect and how changes or limitations may affect your solution.
Blue Flamingo is in development. These four expectations guide what we build and how we assess it: it works when you need it, you understand it, you stay in control and you get help.
Security that just works.
